So, I guess you could say that our little family has some hobbies. As most of you know, Rob is our big outdoorsman of the family and loves to do anything that involves being outside. Although he likes the fish and deer, turkeys are his favorite. He tells me it's because they are the most challenging. This was his kill Saturday morning. He was very exciting and we were very proud of him! I think he said it had a 10 1/2 in beard (for those of you who even know the relevance of that)
Claire was super excited. She always plays with his blow up decoys so she was thrilled to see it in person. She kept saying, "Mommy, look at his bouncy neck!!"
Had to get a picture of all three... Clymer is like... what is goin' on here people?
Didn't really feel the need to make these pics big....... :\
That afternoon, I was working on a few projects I have going for Claire and I thought, I'm going to take a picture of my hobby too :) Here are some of the things I've been working on for the spring and summer.
Claire's Easter Egg skirt, I'm making a shirt with and egg on it from the same fabric. The whole time I was sewing this skirt, she was sitting on the stool next to me cheering, "Egg Skirt, Egg Skirt, Egg Skirt!"
Here are a pair of overall capris... and for any of my sewing friends, this is the BEST pattern. It is from The Children's Corner and is the style "William and Winnie" It can be made for girls, boys-overalls and jumpers. Its's super easy and fully lined. It has been great to use for making matching outfits. ;)
Another one from the same patterns... just doesn't have the ruffle bottom to the legs put on yet.
and yet another from the same pattern......
Here is a bishop I'm working on........ it's got a strawberry vine around the top.
I used a different method when putting on the neckband... i don't really liked how it turned out Doing it this was said to be easier, but, it made the cables look all crooked. Oh well, I'm definitely not taking it off and doing it over. I really do love all parts of sewing very much EXCEPT putting on a neckband. I despise it.
While I was taking pics, Claire said, "Mommy, take mine." Here lately, Claire's hobby has been drawing and painting. She said this is a picture of Daddy with crazy hair! :)
And she said this one was a picture of me!
I took a class back in January to learn how to put a smocked insert into a T-shirt. This is how it looks when you're done..... I LOVE this and can't wait to make little Clymer some of these for the Fall and next summer. Claire has the dress that matches this pattern from last year, and it still fits!
Romper for Clymer made from that same William and Winnie Pattern
This turned out to be one of my favorites! I'm making Claire a skirt that matches. I'm thinking beach pictures. :)
These next two are matching outfits for Claire and Clymer... I thought the fabric was border line for a boy, it has a pink stripe...... but it was 1.00 on the clearance rack at Hancocks. Can't beat making two outfits for 1.00
More matching outfits out of yellow seersucker, my favorite fabric to work with....
A springtime/Easter/summer Bishop for Claire. It has ducks, and looks very Eastery but believe me, we will wear it in the summer :)
And this is the way I normally do a neckband, it does take a few minutes longer, but doesn't it look much neater? I think so! And I just realized I sound 80 years old talking about the best way to put on a neckband. Oh well....
And last, this is what I have so far of their Easter Outfits. Claire's is going to be a romper dress.... and Clymer's a Jon Jon shortall. I wished I would have made her the matching bishop now, but it takes longer, and in order to wear it, it needs to be warm. Maybe next year :) At least she can wear the romper with sleeves underneath if it happens to turn cold again! When I first set out making the romper, I never dreamed it would be this warm, so the bishop never really crossed my mind. In Alabama, we just never know about this weather do we??
